Established in 2004, the UNESCO Creative Cities Network aims to strengthen cooperation between recognized creative cities as a strategic element for sustainable development in various fields such as economic, social, and environmental fields.
This network to date includes 350 cities worldwide and focuses on seven creative fields: Crafts and Folk Art, Design, Film, Gastronomy, Literature, Media Arts, and Music. Among them, Hoian is honored to be a member in the field of Crafts and Folk Arts.

Hoi An currently has 5 traditional craft villages with nearly 50 vibrant craft industries. The city currently has a total of 658 small businesses and 1,710 business households operating in the field of crafts and folk arts.
